“Run Forrest! Run”

The Bubba Gump is a great relief to a craving mouth and the hungry stomach. The food are served in large portions to sustain a big appetite. It’s fun dining atmosphere, and the smiling faces of the staff, creates a sense of familiarity. It’s like dining at home in a house that doesn’t belong to you. You’ll get the feeling of coziness from the friendly surroundings. But the decorations marked the name Forrest Gump all over the restaurant. The movie memorabilias , photographs, and even license plates and ping-pongs says it all. Forrest Gump!

The food is so great. For the love of sea food, nothing beats Bubba Gump. I, often, have Bourbon Mahi Mahi. A charboiled cajun Mahi Mahi with Bourbon sauce and shrimp served over mashed potatoes, or rice. Cajun Shrimp. Shrimp sauteed in hot and spicy Cajun butter sauce that you can dunk with garlic bread. Dippin’ Broth, Firepot Mahi, Clam Chowder are also favorites. Not to forget their Calamari and Shack Pasta. And the best smoothie, my Alabama Sweet. The peanut butter taste is so addicting. Little Daniel wouldn’t stop slurping, I’m afraid he’ll get brain freeze. Do babies get brain freeze?

“Stop Forrest! Stop”. If you need anything, pull down the “Stop” plates, the staff will attend to you.

Stop by Greenbelt 3. They’re on the 2nd level. Greenbelt is in Makati, to those who doesn’t know.

Pizza Pasta Hut

Pizza Hut is one of the popular and scrumptious pizza in the Philippines. But this time, it wasn’t pizza we had. Pizza Hut Bistro offers an array of pasta dishes on their menu.

We had pasta Puttanesca and Jambalaya. Jambalaya was tasty with the sweetness and spiciness just right. But, my husband says, he likes Chef d’Angelo’s puttanesca more. The crab roll salad is huge and appetizing.

The Carribean smoothie was perfect. The staff said its one of their best sellers. It’s a blend of banana, kiwi, and strawberries. I just had a grape smoothie, that was also good but not so special.

The Bistro opened, i guess, last year in Glorietta just beside Ascott Hotel (formerly Oakwood). We didn’t get the chance to eat there until now. We often passed the thought because it’s not quite accessible for us. Restaurants outside Glorietta is not quite in our list since its more convenient to dine with the baby just inside the mall, or at Greenbelt.

The Mockingbird Song

I am not a fan of Eminem. But he was so popular then and they kept playing his songs. I can’t help but listened to this particular song. I never heard of the Mockingbird Song when I was a kid, or maybe not that I could remember. But when I heard him singing Hush Little Baby, The Mockingbird Song, for his daughter I knew that it’s a children song. It was in 2004 when this song hit the charts. But it was only later, when I had my baby, that I’ve searched through the internet and found the original lyrics.

There were also notes that some changed the “Mama’s going to buy you..” phrase into “Mama’s going to show you..” instead. Well they said not to spoil your child from buying things. Then, I guess, we’ll just have to show them things rather. ;)

Hush Little Baby, The Mockingbird Song

Hush, little baby, don’t say a word,
Mama’s going to buy you a mockingbird.

If that mockingbird won’t sing,
Mama’s going to buy you a diamond ring.

If that diamond ring turns brass,
Mama’s going to buy you a looking glass.

If that looking glass gets broke,
Mama’s going to buy you a billy goat.

If that billy goat won’t pull,
Mama’s going to buy you a cart and bull.

If that cart and bull turn over,
Mama’s going to buy you a dog named Rover.

If that dog named Rover won’t bark,
Mama’s going to buy you a horse and cart.

If that horse and cart fall down,
You’ll still be the sweetest little baby in town.

So hush little baby, don’t you cry,
Daddy loves you and so do I.

Experience Thai

The exquisite Thai cuisine is characterized by it’s distinct hot, sweet and sour flavors. The zesty smell of spices could make you more hungry. I say it’s not much different to Filipino home cooking. At Oody’s Thai Bar and Restaurant you’ll experience authentic Thai dishes that would truly capture your soul.

A sup of Tom Yam Talei always gives me a tinkling feeling of satisfaction. The spicy mixed seafood soup of coconut milk, lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves, mushroom and tomatoes taste really savory.

The fresh Spring Rolls are refreshing in the mouth. Fried catfish with mangoes and peanuts is also my favorite. And, if your tongue’s conservative to spicy food, their grilled prawns, squid and chicken will suit you. The chicken wrapped in pandan leaves smells heavenly, too.

Oody’s Thai Bar at Greenbelt 3 is very affordable. And the restaurant’s ambiance is fairly decent. Food and service are great. I have no complains, except that they have no high chairs for the little kids.

Peaceful Rush Rush

I was so contented and peaceful with my Wordpress theme, Peaceful-Rush, for quite sometime now. Until I read Ajay’s “This site is (still) best viewed using Firefox….” article.

I am new to blogging but not to web development. And it is to my frustration that i wasn’t paying too much attention, to what I thought I’m working hard at, these past few weeks. Charmed Moms Club becomes a vision to me. And so, i was spending some time and effort and a lot of thinking to make this possible.

As every web designer should do, I have checked the site’s layout, alignment, and visibility on different resolutions. I asked friends who are using different isp’s from ours to check if they have problems viewing the website. I even checked from different browsers. The answers, everything was okay. Since I was creating a webportal, and not solely the blog site for Mom Writes, I just had a few run down checking with my Wordpress theme. What slipped off from my mind was to check my CSS with IE. Yes, the Blue E.

The PeacefulRush Theme i was using had issues with the browser IE. Is the Browser War not over yet? What ever it is that results to my Peaceful Rush being-not compatible with IE is a pain. But pains, often go away, leaving beautiful lessons. I am now using a new theme called Syrup, by Nick Berlette. It’s very manageable and neat. Syrup is packed with a suite of features that will help you manage your site without any difficulty, or maybe less. You can manipulate Custom Color Schemes, Sidebar positioning, Font Sizes, and a lot more in a very user-friendly way.

I am now, not only peaceful, but comfortable with my new Syrup. Not only good for pancakes but works perfectly with Firefox, and just a lilliputian issue with IE.
