my domain name

I got my domain back.

A year ago I overlooked the expiration date of one of my domains, animoport.com. And it went into a domain name auction and another acquired it. Then they had just turned it into a domain parking. I wanted the animoport.com badly for sentimental reasons that this was my husband’s first owned domain name, and it has our lastname. Though i used it now for personal matter. And so i registered ‘theanimoport.com’.

Few months later, I have received mails offering my expired domain for a very high price. Since I own another version of the domain, they expected I’d want to get the ‘.com’ version.

The email claimed that theirs is a company that specializes in recovering preferred expiring domains and sell them to individuals like myself or building out their own sites on these expired but valuable domains.

Excerpts of the email;

animoport.com is a pretty darn good domain name and,the truth is, the animoport.com is a far stronger version of thename than the theanimoport.com is.* animoport.com is more intuitive and easier to remember.
Odds are people trying to get toyour website are inadvertently going to animoport.com because they assume that’s where they can find you.

animoport.com conveys Professionalism that theanimoport.com cannot match. If you’d like to own animoport.com, you can buy it now by covering our acquisition costs and a modest profit.

If you have any interest I encourage you to act quickly because this domain name will only be offered for sale
for a limited time.

animoport.com was previously priced at $457, but as
part of a very limited marketing test, I’ve decided to
discount our inventory of domain names for just 24 hours.

How big of a discount?

Up to $250.

That’s a huge savings.

But, You do have to act right away though… because this offer is only good for the next 24 hours.

Yesterday I was checking Centralops for domains’ availability. And my ‘animoport.com’ is already available . They have let go of my domain. I registered it right away. And I got it for $1.99 USD only.

How could people buy domain names that could be important to others but not so much to them. Then sell it to a very high price. They take advantage of others’ misses and forgetfulness. So okay the world is full of business people and all.

Baby Names

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s blessed with twins. Last Saturday, July 12, Angelina gave birth to the new additions of their growing family, Vivienne Marchiline and Knox Leon.

According to baby name expert Pamela Redmond Satran, “Angelina and Brad have proven once again that they are the leaders in original baby-naming, even by Hollywood standards,..”

Vivienne is the French version of the ancient Latin name that means ‘alive’. And Marcheline was the name of Jolie’s mother. The son’s name Leon is Brad’s grandfather’s middle name. It also matches older brothers, Maddox and Pax. While Leon is Jolie’s great-great grandfather’s name.

2002, Angelina named first adopted son Maddox Chivan when he was a little baby. Maddox means good and generous. Then, after 3 years, she and Brad adopted and named second baby Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt. Zahara means “flower” in Swahili and “to shine” in Hebrew. And Angelina’s first biological child with Brad, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt. Shiloh means “peaceful one,” in Hebrew. Nouvel is a reference to Jean Nouvel, a famous French architect. Pax Thein Jolie was adopted in 2007. Pax meaning peace in Latin, Thien meaning heaven, helpful or good in Vietnamese.

I like how their boys’ names ended with ‘x’. We named our son Daniel so to sound like my husband’s name Nel and my name Roselle. Also I’ve been planning to name next son Gabriel, or Janelle if it’s a girl. Parents give baby names that rhymes or sound like their own names. Some baby names are combinations of both parents’ names. Or some, have their parent’s name, like my brother is my father’s ‘Junior’ or ‘the second’. My best friend named their son Kaden Anthony, coming from his dad’s, which is Karl Anthony.

But Brad and Angelina have the knack of choosing names that are different and unusual. And they do affect the trends in the world of baby names.

The Church vs Contraceptives

I am a Catholic. I am a mother. And an issue was raised.

church

I am not a pro-abortion. I am a Christian at heart. I do not use Artificial Contraceptives. But I believe that the Catholic Church has been so harsh and shallow in their stand against contraceptives and surgical interventions like tubal ligation and vasectomy. They launched a campaign against reproductive health bills in Congress. And Ozamiz Archbishop Jesus Dosado’s pose denying communion to politicians whom the Church perceived to be pro-abortion is hypocrisy. Do they have blind eyes to the present reality and the rationale of things?

It seems they relate reproductive health rights with abortion. Abortion is murder. It is taking the life away from an already breathing fetus in the womb. Of course, I’m talking in figurative language, babies take their first breath when they are born. And these contraceptives are just to prevent a woman from getting pregnant. Thus, not taking life because there’s no conception yet.

The truth is we are suffering of great consequences. The root of almost every problem our society faces is due to the rapid growth of the population.

Couples bear children they could not afford. These children they could not send to school. Little babies suffering of malnutrition and other illness because their parents don’t have money to buy them food and proper nutrition. Kids wandering the dangerous streets of the city living the life of a vagabond. At a very early stage in their lives, some became criminals and prostituted. Their unchosen fate forced them to embrace this kind of existence.

We all have choices no matter what. We can change the world if we want to. But can we really?

Each of us may have our own great thoughts of how to save the world. It’s just a matter of understanding each one’s thoughts. It may seem absurd for everybody to understand everybody. But we can always start in little steps, in a few heads, in certain boundaries, or in the middle of all logical and humane opinion.

For the love of God and compassion to mankind. Let there be enlightenment. The church should be the candle in the dark for our people and should not be as hostiles as Jesus Christ’s adjucators were.

July 18: Earthquake in the Philippines

19 Comments Written by Daniel's Mom on July 10, 2008 in It's a small world, On Faith.

Bringing paranoia to others is not an act of kindness. Fraud emails and text messages are popular nowadays. Do they bring sincere warnings?

I was undeniably concerned with a forwarded text message we received. The text message was to forewarn us of a great earthquake that would kill many people in the Philippines. The said earthquake would hit the country at a magnitude of 8.1 on July 18, 2008.

A certain JUSELEENO NOBULEGA DaROOSE (or Jucelino Nobrega da Luz) was said to have predicted the earthquake. He is a Brazilian teacher who had many predictions came true. I’m not sure how many did not. Besides, his predictions are written in his language, or maybe poorly in English. I don’t know him personally, so I am not to judge him. But the stories have been circulating and it raises, not only interest, but apprehensions and paranoia. Also I’ve check on his website, that was translated by another person in English, and there is no prediction of earthquake in the Philippines. There were about the Feb and June 2008 Big Floods . These are all but vague forecasts.

It’s his word and his visions against science. Local News say PHILVOCS gave out a statement saying there’s no truth to the messages that were passing around. No Earthquake on July 18th, I think this what matters the most.

Planet Earth is one ambiguous round shape spinning about the Sun. And what goes with it’s ambiguity is human behavior and interaction. We are species of great power, that is to think for ourselves. We are equipped with logic. Thus to make decisions and actions for humankind amelioration, I supposed. But the aberration of mankind does not solely characterized on the physical aspect. Some people think strange. And talk nonsense, enough to give the masses a scare.

Pray to God
