Daniel’s boo-boo
I am watchful and a paranoid childproofer of my home. But little boys are little boys. Not seriously a parent headache at their age, but could be. A cute headache though. I was on the phone for less than 5-mins when I heard a thud and a cry. My 3 year old fell off his chair. He was playing basketball and was using the chair to reach the ring which I set-up 4 feet. And he crashed with a big lump on his forehead.
I was quite shaken, but being a Grey’s Anatomy fanatic, I knew what to look at. I first tried cold compress. Put ice in an icebag and wrapped the bag in a towel. Applying the ice directly to the skin can cause frostbite. The cold reduces the blood flow to the area and therefore limits bleeding into the skin and reduces the size of the bruise or the lump. The cold also decreases the inflammation in the area of the injury and it limits the swelling.

And observed for the next 24 hours.
If the child falls asleep check him every now and then. Try to wake him up atleast a couple of times, just to make sure you can.
Watch for these signs:
Bleeding
Black-and-Blue discoloration below the eyes or behind the ears
Cessation of breathing
Loss of balance / weakness or an inability to use an arm or leg
Unequal pupil size
Repeated vomitting
Observe your child and use your better judgment. If one of these signs show call medical help right away. It’s always best to consult the doctor.
